Citroen Basalt:Recently, Tata confirmed the launch details of its coupe SUV, Tata Curvv SUV, in the country. Meanwhile, Citroen has also revealed the launch details and interior features of its coupe SUV, Citroen Basalt. Let’s get to know all the information about this new SUV.

If we step inside the Citroen Basalt, you’ll find a digital instrument cluster along with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV also features phone holders on the front and rear armrests, Type-C charging ports, wireless charging, cruise control, and automatic climate control.

The Citroen Basalt’s price in the Indian market is said to be between 12 to 15 lakh rupees ex-showroom, which is quite lower compared to the Tata Curvv EV. As a result, a tough competition between the two SUVs can be expected.
Citroen is soon going to introduce a new car in India. The production-ready model of this car is completed and it is expected to be launched in India by August. The Citroen Basalt is being developed on a new platform, and its look is quite similar to the Citroen C3 Aircross. It is also capable of directly competing with the Tata Curvv.
Currently, Citroen has not revealed the prices of this upcoming car. However, it is expected that the company will launch this car with a starting ex-showroom price of around 11 to 12 lakh rupees. This car will be more expensive than the company’s 7-seater car and will be capable of directly competing with the Tata Curvv in the market.

The look of this new Citroen car is going to be unique. The interior of this car will feature many new elements, including a new taillamp, dual-tone bumper, and new alloy wheels. Additionally, the car will have a new grille, making its look distinctive.

This new Citroen car is expected to come with many modern features such as a 10.2-inch infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, electrically folding wing mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, wireless charging, and keyless entry. Additionally, it is believed that the company will offer safety features like ADAS, airbags, ABS with EBD, and ESC in this car.
Citroen Basalt Powertrain
Regarding the engine, the Citroen Basalt is expected to have the same engine as the Citroen C3 Aircross. It will be equipped with a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 110 BHP and a peak torque of 205 Nm. There may also be options for a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Basalt features a unique notchback design, resembling a high-riding sedan. The front grille is designed with LED headlamps, an attractive front bumper, new alloy wheels, chunky wheel arches, and a dual-tone exterior color, similar to the C3 Aircross. At the rear, it is expected to have wraparound LED taillamps, a silver faux plate, and a large Citroen logo in the center.
The coupe SUV comes with wireless connectivity, a digital driver display, keyless entry, wireless charging, automatic climate control, and cruise control, along with a large infotainment screen.
For safety, it is expected to include standard features like six airbags, a rear parking camera with sensors, ISOFIX mounts, and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System).
Citroen Basalt Engine and Performance
Although the automaker has not yet disclosed the engine specifications for this model, it is expected that Basalt will share its engine with the Citroën C3 Aircross.
It is likely to be powered by a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 109bhp and 205Nm of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or a torque converter unit.
The Citroën C3X is also expected to have the same 1.2-liter turbo petrol unit, providing 110 BHP of power.
The C3X crossover is likely to feature a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 3-spoke steering wheel with audio and calling controls reminiscent of the C3 Aircross SUV. Safety and convenience features might include a digital driver display, up to six airbags, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a reversing camera.
Citroen Basalt :- Design
The SUV looks attractive, and since its dimensions are not expected to be very different from the C3 Aircross, the Basalt will be approximately 4,300 mm long. Like the C3 Aircross, the Basalt features a split chrome grille finish and a split headlamp setup. However, instead of halogen units found in the C3 Aircross, the Basalt comes with projector headlamps.
The side profile of the Basalt is more sporty compared to the C3 Aircross due to its coupe-like sloping roof, square wheel arches, pinch window line, side body cladding, and stylish dual-tone gunmetal alloy wheels. At the rear, the design is clean with stubby wraparound tail lamps, a heavy dual-tone bumper finished in black and silver, and a high-mounted boot lid. While the tail lamps are designed similarly to those on the C3 Aircross, they are larger and feature LED signatures.

The new Basalt will feature a familiar design similar to the Citroën C3 Aircross. It will include a split LED headlamp setup, LED DRLs, a sloping roofline, chunky wheel arches, silver faux plates at the front and rear, wrap-around LED taillights, black ORVMs, and new alloy wheels.
Additionally, the Basalt is expected to come with several features such as electric folding wing mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, a wireless charger, push-button start/stop, and keyless entry.
The Basalt will have a wider radiator grille with a more aggressive front bumper. Other design highlights include flip door handles, wrap-around LED taillights, squared wheel arches, and a notchback-like raised tailgate section.
The Basalt is also anticipated to include electric folding wing mirrors, automatic climate control, cruise control, a wireless charger, push-button start/stop, and keyless entry.
